JAH BIRTH:
A YEAR IN REVIEW
|

2008 was an abundant year for the newfangled Jah Birth label based in Kingston, Jamaica.
In early 2008, Jah Birth returned from South Africa after concluding an exclusive licensing and distribution deal with the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
It was Prophecy 's single, CHANCE, a tribute to slain S.A. super-star Lucky Dube that was acquired in the deal. Editing of the video was concluded in December '08 and the video has since been released on television across South Africa. The video , CHANCE will have its debut on Jamaican television in the 1st quarter of 2009.
Topping Italian Reggae Charts, Jah Birth got their first #1 hit with their PARTY IN SESSION REMIX featuring PROPHECY, DELLY RANX and the Grammy Kid, MICHAEL ROSE. Peeking at number 1 early in the second quarter, the single maintained momentum throughout the 3rd quarter and this slamming combination remained on the
charts for 7 consecutive months.
In addition, last year also saw the successful release of the label's 3 WISE MICE RIDDIM .
Produced by renowned bassist and musical director, Delroy "WORM" Nevin, the popular remake featured Lutan Fyah, Oba Simba, Blessed, Kool DeRoy, Prophecy, Lenn Hammond, as well as Chaka Demus and Pliers . The singles made regular rotation on numerous playlists throughout Europe and North America.
In the final quarter of 2008, WORM joined the Black Kush band, embarking on a 6 week tour in France with Winston Mac Anuff, Earl "Chinna" Smith, and Kiddis I . The success of the tour has resulted in a return to Europe in the second quarter of 2009.
Jah Birth is dedicated to creating quality products for their international markets. Best wishes for a spiritual, meaningful and prosperous '09.
Special thanks to DJs worldwide for their constant feedback & support. It is greatly appreciated and valued. |
