Promoting his new album Living Legend, the compilation features
appearances by hot hip-hop artists such as Snoop Dog, Lil Wayne, Cool and
Dre and Swiss Beat, and the reggae artists Capleton and Reid’s sons.
Born Delroy "Junior" Reid, the Jamaican musician grew up in the Waterhouse
district of West Kingston. A devout Rastafarian regarded by many as a
messenger from Jah, Reid is best known for the hit singles Foreign Mind,
One Blood, Boom Shak-a-Lak and Listen to the Voices. He also served as the
lead singer for the Grammy Award-winning reggae group Black Uhuru.
Formed in 1997 as a Bob Marley tribute band, ‘Katchafire’ began writing
their own songs and since have released three albums: Revival (2003), which
featured the best-selling New Zealand single of 2003, "Giddy Up"; Slow
Burning (2005) and Say What You're Thinking (2007). They now have a huge
following in New Zealand, Hawaii, Australia and around the world.
‘Junior Reid Live In Concert’ with opening act ‘Katchafire’ will take the
stage at Maui Arts and Cultural Center Friday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m.
General admission tickets are available for advance purchase for $35 or for
$40 day of show, plus applicable fees. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March
13 and can be purchased at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center Box Office by
