Crowned kings of urban reggae NOBLE SOCIETY, bring their mash-up of ‘hip-hop meets dancehall’ with the release of a new album, Take Charge.

HENRY TURNER JR. : : Louisiana Funk Buffet
Combine the innovative styles and musical creativity of Henry Turner, Jr. and the two talented musicians who accompany him and the result is not only unique and original, but highly entertaining as well. The band's name is Flavor and their latest hit single is entitled 'Ugly Man,' a clever, tongue-in-cheek commentary on love from a man's perspective done up in a funky reggae blues style that is sure to please.

UNIVERSAL REBEL : : Underdog
This reggae-dub-style ditty trumpets the plight of the 'little guy' in all
of us, that must fight uphill, against all odds, to overcome adversity.
Sometimes the underdogs are so under they wind up getting over. This song has been dedicated to the New York Giants, the greatest Underdogs of our generation.

One of the new events on this yearend's social calendar, Reggaelution, the $3,500 per person, all-inclusive session, despite teething pains, tried to live up to expectations . But whether or not it was a financial success is another story.
With performances scheduled to start at 11:00 pm, a fact which took many patrons completely by surprise, Reggaelution was designed along a 'party' concept, complete with dancefloor in the field of Knutsford Boulevard's Liguanea Club. The idea was for patrons to party from 7:30 until it was time for the live performances from Rootz Underground, Etana, Buju and Tarrus Riley. However, there must have been some communication block, since the bulk of the patrons arrived between 9:00 and 10:00 pm, expecting showtime.
Delano and the Renaissance crew did a commendable job of creating great vibes with their on-point selections which even had some of the more stoic swaying to the beats of reggae and dancehall. They gave way to the reggae/rock sound of openng act, Rootz Underground, a seemingly deep-rooted Jah-based outfit that has claimed its share of the reggae pie. With a new album out and extensive touring underway Rootz Underground delivered well and must have converted more fans to their already growing fan base.

Jamaica's Reggae Marathon and Half Marathon event has been named by the British publication, the London Paper as one of the 'Top 10 Marathons around the world.'
![]() |
In an article written by Andy Dixon, editor of the prestigious sports magazine "Runners World", Reggae Marathon was listed along with London, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, New York City, Venice, Stockholm, Swiss Alpine, Marrakech and the North Pole as being among the world's best.
Praising Negril's unparalleled setting in part for the event's growing popularity, the article stated "Jamaica's marathon has quickly become a popular fixture - and it's not hard to see why. The race starts before daybreak to dodge the heat, with a guard of honor of locals bearing flaming torches. The route never strays more than a few yards from the Caribbean [sea] and its silver sand."
According to Tanya Miller, President of the Jamdammers Running Club of Kingston, organizers of the event, "As we celebrate our eighth anniversary this year, this is great news for Reggae Marathon and Jamaica. We are thrilled that we have been ranked with the best in the world and we thank all our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and most of all the people of Negril and Green Island for helping us to transform an idea into a world class event."

with Kaya Entertainment take Toronto's Dancehall into overdrive as they present die-hard Dancehall fans with Busy Signal and Munga Honourable on Saturday December 20 at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex (1 Jarvis Street, Toronto, ON 416-869-0045). Dubbed as the show to close out the year, Toronto will be 'busy' as it prepares for two of their most favourite artists.

Busy Signal has set the Dancehall world on fire when he made his debut as one of Bounty Killer's protégé's as a part of the Alliance. Consistently releasing hit singles, Busy's debut album Step Out on the Greensleeve's imprint, earned him the respect of fans and media internationally with hits such as Not Going Down and Born and Grow. His sophomore album, Fully Loaded on the VP Records imprint, features chunes such as Jail (inspired by his brief time in prison in the U.S.), Unknown Number and These Are The Days.
Part two of this eagerly anticipated show features Munga Honourable who rose to prominence as the first 'Gangsta Rass', making no apologies for who he is, and why he is. Hailing from St. Mary, and a member of David House, Munga has recorded hit chunes such as Bad From Me Born, Gangsta Ras, and I Came To Take My Place which catapulted him to international attention upon their release. Come February 2009, the Jamaica Film Academy (JFA), through the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports (MICYS), will host the second annual Reggae Film Festival, at Emancipation Park, in Kingston. This will be carried out under the direction of the Ministry's Consultant, Barbara Blake Hannah, and British film archivist, Peter Gittins.
In an interview with JIS News, Ms. Hannah said she hoped that the second staging of the Festival would serve as a catalyst for the development of the JFA, as well as Jamaica's film industry.
"For this film festival, we want to use it to solidify the aims and objectives of the JFA, to really establish an umbrella under which the training of film makers and the production and creation of Jamaican Films can take place, in a very fruitful and supportive environment," she said.
