The San Francisco Bay Area urban electronica community spoke loudly and clearly when it declared Dhaamal SF co-founder Janaka Selekta 'Best DJ' in a recent SF Guardian reader's poll. Janaka brings a dancer's sensibility to the decks, by deconstructing each track, and merging and beat juggling parts to build crescendos and diminuendos. Janaka is renowned for his deft touch while constantly working the tracks and mixer to blow up dancefloors across the U.S., Asia, and Europe. His unique sound combines original songs and homemade bootlegs with floor-stomping tracks from around the planet. Janaka's breakbeat tune, 'Bol Breaker,' broke BBC Radio 1's Bobby and Nihal's Top 10 and the Dhamaal Soundsystem CD hit the iTunes Top 20 Electronic Music Chart.

Cheb i Sabbah has made a career out of blending music from all over the world into kaleidoscopic, dancefloor mixes. His first three albums for Six Degrees Records, Shri Durga, MahaMaya - Shri Durga Remixed and Krishna Lila, are cult classics in which India's time-honored traditions merge with the universe of possibilities afforded by contemporary recording technology. His fourth release was a continuous DJ mix titled As Far As, in which the sounds of Asia, Arabia and Africa?his main sources of inspiration?are represented as if the listener were attending one of his renowned live sets. From here, he turned his attention to North Africa with his latest discs La Kahena and La Ghriba - La Kahena Remixed. He's currently working on a brand new album and you can look forward to a sneak preview of it at this edition of Worldly.

Bassist Dr. Das is best known as the 'dub' in Asian Dub Foundation. His fat, addictive basslines propelled the British Asian Underground pioneers' sound from their inception in 1995 to 2006. Dr. Das just released his first solo CD Emergency Basslines to great acclaim across Europe. Worldly is proud to feature Dr. Das' first U.S. solo gig. His high-energy, rhythm-charged performance will find him joined by virtuoso percussionist and electronica luminary Karsh Kale, as well as drummer Ramjac. Other very special guests will appear during the set. Don't miss this U.S. exclusive gig!
