Preduce skateboards history
Profile Preduce skateboards is the first Thai skateboard company, with a team that consists of 7 riders, 3 professionals and 4 amateurs. All the riders have different style and they come from different areas of Thailand. One rider, Kyle Brown, is from the U.S.A. The company was founded in 2002 by skateboarder and magazine editor Rthit ‘Nung’ Phannikul. In 2003, he joined forces with a Swiss skateboarder, Simon Pellaux, who is also team manager for the Lausanne based 242 skateboards brand, and a Swiss DJ and producer Guillaume Wyss who also manage the Swiss distribution company Display Sarl. Maxime Buechi, also a skater from Switzerland, is doing the graphics for Preduce along with Rthit Phannikul. He teaches part time at the renowned ECAL art school in Lausanne and works in Paris for the ‘Work in Progress’ agency as well as in London. The idea behind Preduce skateboards was to create a company made by skateboarders for skateboarders in Thailand, where the skateboard market is hold mostly by businessmen who never stepped on a board. Our goal is also to be able to offer skateboarding hard goods in Thailand at a cheaper price than American products, in a country where skateboarding popularity is growing a lot, but where a board is still really expensive compared to the cost of living. And finally, Preduce skateboards simply wishes to put Thai skating on the map! The place is not really famous in the skateboard world yet, but time has come to reveal the big amount of good spots and the skills of the locals riders. In 2006, Preduce skateboards is already widely known in the Thai skateboard scene and the brand has started to appear internationally too. Promotional videos of the Preduce team have been distributed and sold in Switzerland, Europe and Japan, and the story keeps going fast. The team finished filming for the first full length Preduce skateboards video called “Smooth” that premiered in Bangkok early in August. It features the whole Preduce team and friends as well as some of the 242 skateboards riders in locations all over Thailand. The Preduce team is composed by highly skilled skateboarders that have been placing in the top 10 of countless skateboard contest like the Thai X-Games Qualifier. The three pros win even regularly such events.
