Yaz Alexander
| Hi All It's that time once again to update you on one of the UK's finest reggae darlings, Yaz Alexander. And what an update we have because the big news is that Yaz has officially released her second studio album, "Cry For Freedom" which along with her debut album, "Life Begins" is available for purchase online at CDBaby.Com |
Even though many classify Yaz Alexander as a "reggae artist," the truth is that she is a singer per se who is not limited to performing reggae exclusively, but with this album she felt the need to honour that particular aspect of reggae (roots & culture) that gave her, her singing groundation. However, the future is certainly diverse performance wise for our beautiful singer of songs as she continually strives to amalgamate the myriad of musical influences that thus far have fashioned her unique vocal style and delivery. So - as she moves ever closer to creating her magnum opus, we can expect her next offering to contain elements of soul, r'n'b, hip-hop and jazz - as well as other genres that are close to her heart.
Indeed, Yaz is already writing tirelessly for album number three (release date circa October 2009) and several songs have already been completed - or are close to completion. One of those songs, "Days of Thunder" can be previewed on MCForty's Youtube video channel - and as well as getting to hear Yaz sing a totally different style, you'll be able to see her acting abilities in this very experimental video project.
Also earmarked for album number three is the much sought after, "My Everything" the Dean Fraser produced future classic on the world famous "She's Royal" riddim. And because hitherto, this is the single most requested track amongst the deejay fraternity, we're going to allow unlimited access to the track - an offer open exclusively to radio and club deejays only. You can hear a sample of the track by clicking the following link: MY EVERYTHING and if you then decide that you want a copy for your collection, just send an email to request it to: info@fullyfledgedproductions.co.uk or fullyfledged@gmail.com and I'll send you the link to download it.If you're not a deejay however, your not excluded from obtaining a Yaz Alexander freebie. We have a re-mastered version of a "Life Begins" track, "Don't Trust Love" available for download and you can access it now by clicking either of the following links: https://download.yousendit.com/Y2ovK0dwQk5nYVBIRGc9PQ or http://www.sendspace.com/file/s486co (This download will only be available for 7 days) but you can still request it even after the links expire.
So then, the production for album number three "One Step Closer To The Magnum Opus (working title) is truly under way and will include productions from some of reggae music's most celebrated producers including Sly & Robbie and collaborations with R'n'B Soul star, Montell Jordan and hopefully Lovers Rock legend Beres Hammond - we will attempt to secure that particular project when Yaz performs alongside Beres and Maxi Priest at the forthcoming Easter Sunday concert at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall on Sunday April 12th 2009.
To find out where in the world Yaz will be performing this year, periodically check her respective calendars either at: http://www.yazalexander.com/music.html
Judging by the reception that she got when she performed at her first stage event in 2009, the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust's, awareness fundraiser at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham on St Valentines Day, 2009 is promising to be a very exciting prospect for our pretty songstress - even in this economic downturn. And if Yaz's positive outlook on life rubs off on the many different people that she gets to meet in her profession, who knows - maybe prospective UK Prime Minister, David Cameron (below) will win the next general election and initiate a stimulus package that curtails the protracted recession.
Anyway, let's adopt one of Yaz's many favourable traits and end this newsletter edition positively, "things can only get better" as they say. And what Yaz would say - especially to the young students that she tutors every Monday, "always believe and follow your dreams."
Even though Yaz's diary is already quite hectic for 2009, she is always available for bookings, interviews, appearances and studio sessions where possible.
