| Kanji Art Management proudly present on Tour in July & August 2009 in Europe: The Ethiopians featuring Leonard Dillon backed by Dubtonic Kru (Jamaica), also presenting its own show featuring Kamau, Jallanzo (guitar) & Jubba (drummer, dubpoet). Fee: from 9.000 to 12.000 euros (depending on some conditions to agree) Essentially a mouthpiece for singer and songwriter Leonard Dillon, the Ethiopians were one of Jamaica's most influential vocal groups during their heyday. Not only did the duo (completed by Stephen Taylor) spearhead the transition between ska and rocksteady, Dillon's heavily Rastafarian lyrics also paved the way for the socially conscious roots reggae era that was to come. http://www.reggae.fr/lire-news/2910_200903_Une-decouverte-roots-reggae.html http://www.riddimjamaica.net/profiles/blogs/dubtonic-leading-the-new-dub http://raggamag.blogspot.com/2008/04/tantrum-rhythm.html http://www.portaldoreggae.com/net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277:jubba-a-dubtonic-kru&catid=44:nacionais&Itemid=68 Bless, Kanji & Kru | ||||

with Kaya Entertainment take Toronto's Dancehall into overdrive as they present die-hard Dancehall fans with Busy Signal and Munga Honourable on Saturday December 20 at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex (1 Jarvis Street, Toronto, ON 416-869-0045). Dubbed as the show to close out the year, Toronto will be 'busy' as it prepares for two of their most favourite artists.

Busy Signal has set the Dancehall world on fire when he made his debut as one of Bounty Killer's protégé's as a part of the Alliance. Consistently releasing hit singles, Busy's debut album Step Out on the Greensleeve's imprint, earned him the respect of fans and media internationally with hits such as Not Going Down and Born and Grow. His sophomore album, Fully Loaded on the VP Records imprint, features chunes such as Jail (inspired by his brief time in prison in the U.S.), Unknown Number and These Are The Days.
Part two of this eagerly anticipated show features Munga Honourable who rose to prominence as the first 'Gangsta Rass', making no apologies for who he is, and why he is. Hailing from St. Mary, and a member of David House, Munga has recorded hit chunes such as Bad From Me Born, Gangsta Ras, and I Came To Take My Place which catapulted him to international attention upon their release. Munga has worked with producers Don Corleon on the 10 Pounds of Kush Riddim, Shane Brown on the Silent River Riddim as well as Jam 2, and Baby G.

This Week:
Jamaica's Reggae Marathon and Half Marathon event has been named by the British publication, the London Paper as one of the 'Top 10 Marathons around the world.'
![]() |
In an article written by Andy Dixon, editor of the prestigious sports magazine "Runners World", Reggae Marathon was listed along with London, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, New York City, Venice, Stockholm, Swiss Alpine, Marrakech and the North Pole as being among the world's best.
Praising Negril's unparalleled setting in part for the event's growing popularity, the article stated "Jamaica's marathon has quickly become a popular fixture - and it's not hard to see why. The race starts before daybreak to dodge the heat, with a guard of honor of locals bearing flaming torches. The route never strays more than a few yards from the Caribbean [sea] and its silver sand."
According to Tanya Miller, President of the Jamdammers Running Club of Kingston, organizers of the event, "As we celebrate our eighth anniversary this year, this is great news for Reggae Marathon and Jamaica. We are thrilled that we have been ranked with the best in the world and we thank all our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and most of all the people of Negril and Green Island for helping us to transform an idea into a world class event."

The 270th Accompong Maroon Festival will once again celebrate the legendary Maroons of Western Jamaica, the historic descendants of runaway slaves, who were freed by the Spanish and fled to Jamaica’s untouched South Coast in pursuit of freedom, and who live there to this day.
The Accompany Maroon Festival dates back to the 19th Century and is celebrated every year in January to mark their victory over the British and to honour their hero, Cudjoe, who won the first Maroon War. They commemorate the occasion with traditional singing, dancing, playing of the drums and blowing of the Aben. Visitors will also get to partake in a variety of food and drink at the newly constructed African-styled Bickle (food) Village. Traditionally the cooking is done by men and no salt is used. When placed behind bars for armed robbery and drug disposition charges, Akon used his time constructively to focus solely on making music. His commitment and fervour for the entertainment industry would eventually pay off as the multi talented artiste was soon signed to the Universal Record Music Group. Akon’s freshman album “Trouble” was released in the summer of 2004, producing the smash hit singles, “Locked Up”, “Ghetto”, “Lonely” and “Belly Dancer (Bonanza)”. Within weeks of its debut, “Trouble” obtained multi-platinum success, selling three million units in the United States and a whopping four million worldwide.
The record’s follow up release entitled “Konvicted” would confirm Akon’s sustainability within the music industry. “Smack that” the first single off the much anticipated album featuring the controversial rap superstar Eminem, debuted at number 95 on the U.S Billboard Charts.
