It was that time of the year again when patrons from all over the world came out in thousands for the staging of the 17th annual Reggae Sumfest held at Catherine Hall, Montego bay.

Now in its 17th year, reggae sumfest is known to be the greatest reggae show on earth, with three nights of the best in Jamaican artists as well as International entertainers. Touchtone Productions, Marcia and her great production team always seem to have a no error stage and film production.

Security was at their finest.

This is the 1st year reviewing Reggae Sumfest 2009, as a solo writter. I am representing Easy Star Records, Rankinmedia, and The Roots Reggae club(Web Based  out of Thailand)

Thursday night which was dancehall night as usual attracted mostly young people and was one of the best dancehall nights that I’ve experienced throughout my four years of attending the event. It  featured artist such as, D Angel,  I-Octane, Busy Signal, Charley Black, Macka Diamond,  Beenie Man who closed the show and was officially crowned the King of Dancehall, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Serani, Demarco, Lady Saw, Spice,   Mavado,  Bounty Killer and his Alliance, Vybz Kartel and his empire who took the show and a whole other host of entertainers.

As for the International acts which took place on Friday and Saturday night, it featured some top international performers such as Ne-Yo, Keri  Hilson, Jasmine Sullivan, Toni Braxton, Tito Jackson who paid a tribute to his brother Micheal Jackson and  Damian Marley who was joined by Nas and Bounty Killer. It also featured some local artist such as  Anthony Able who also performed  his tribute to Michael Jackson, Etana, Morgan Heritage, Coco Tea and Tarrus Riley just to name a few.

I’m looking forward to attend the next show that I know will be filled with electrifying performances, and with various sponsors endorsing the event

to the fullest and  also the production team which has being doing a very good job at keeping the summer alive for thousands of patrons, I know its going to be a great one as it has being for the 17th year now.
