SIPPLE OUT DEH!

This summer sees the release of the long-awaited collection of Lee 'Scratch' Perry productions from the famed Black Ark years of the mid-to-late seventies. SIPPLE OUT DEH! features 44 seminal tracks that originally saw issue as 7" singles in Jamaica, with many sizable hits both on the island and the UK. Also included are a number of rarer items, including Mikey Dread's Home Gard, which makes its CD debut.

NEW 2CD SETS

July also sees the release of the next two collections in the recently launched genre-themed 2CD sets. The first is a collection of rare and sought-after tracks from the late sixties and seventies, performed by many of Jamaica's best-loved female acts, including Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Dawn Penn, Doreen Schaeffer and Hortense Ellis.

Entitled MELODY LIFE - TROJAN SISTERS, the compilation includes numerous recordings that have been unavailable for decades, with all but three making their debut on Trojan CD. Among these are two Candy McKenzie recordings cut for Lee 'Scratch' Perry at Black Ark in 1977 that have remained unavailable since the original date of issue. Yet, despite the scarcity of the material, the music is of the highest order, ensuring this is one of the finest collection of female Reggae ever to see issue.

STAND AND GIVE PRAISE - TROJAN ROOTS brings together 40 Roots classics from the genre's heyday, written and performed by many of its greatest protagonists, and produced by some of its most influential creators. Chronologically compiled, the collection provides a fascinating history lesson in the development of the style and Jamaican music throughout this period - and with almost every track making the debut on Trojan, it is undoubtedly set to be one of the most significant compilations of classic Reggae of 2010.

TROJAN ORIGINALS

Another two classic Reggae albums are to be made available on CD from 26th July.

First off is the Upsetters' skinhead favourite, THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UPSETTERS, which finally sees issue on CD some 40 years after its original release.

Produced by Tony Cousins and Bruce White, with the able assistance of the Upsetter, the collection was cut during the group's UK tour in 1970 and includes a number of tracks that appear on CD for the first time ever.

The other title to receive a long overdue overhaul is Max Romeo's classic album, WAR INA BABYLON, the Lee 'Scratch' Perry collection that marked the producer's association with Island Records in 1976.

Both releases faithfully maintain the look and sound of the original vinyl albums, with original analogue quarter-inch tapes used for mastering and the sleeve artwork faithfully reproduced.
